Be Your Best. Serve the Greater Good. Rock out with Sara Agah Franti at Accessory to a Change!
BPW Saskatoon is thrilled to announce that Sara Agah Franti will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Third Annual Accessory to a Change on June 7, 2018!
Sara Agah Franti, an Emergency Room Registered Nurse, was inspired to create the Do It For The Love foundation with her husband, musician Michael Franti, after witnessing the power that music has to bring families together during their times of greatest need. Do It For The Love’s mission is to provide live concert experiences to children and adults living with end stages of life threatening illness or special needs, as well as wounded veterans. Sara is an active Board Member and the Chief Strategy Officer. Since being founded in late 2013, Do It For The Love has sent more than 1,400 families to live concert experiences in cities all across North America.
In addition to her work in health and healing, she is also the owner and creative director of LUA a sustainable jewelry line, created to inspire individuality, and encourage the wearer to live free. Together with Michael they own Soulshine Bali a boutique hotel dedicated to Yoga, Soul, and Rock & Roll.
Sara is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Her passion has driven her to pursue her Masters Degree in Public Health, which she intends to use as a platform to concentrate on health promotion and policy change. Her work, life, and play are all influenced by her mantra “Be your best. Serve the greater good. Rock out wherever you are!”
ABOUT ACCESSORY TO A CHANGE:
Education is one of the most critical areas of empowerment for women and a vital means to ensuring that we have more choices over the kinds of lives we wish to lead. However, many women face significant financial barriers or difficult circumstances that inhibit them from pursuing the training and learning opportunities they wish to experience. It is for this reason that Business and Professional Women of Saskatoon launched a bursary program dedicated to addressing the unique challenges that women often face in pursuing post-secondary education. For more than 60 years, we have been providing financial support to the women in our community in order to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
In order to extend our impact and support even more women, BPW Saskatoon is very pleased to present Accessory to a Change! The aim of this third annual sparkly soirée is to raise $20,000 in support of our bursary program for mature and Aboriginal women in Saskatoon and beyond. These bursaries have a tremendous effect in the lives of the women who receive them and with your generosity and support, we are certain we will be able to reach our goal.
The festivities will take place at the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon Hotel on Thursday, June 7 2018, with cocktails beginning at 5:30 pm. This year’s event will feature an inspiring keynote talk from philanthropist and entrepreneur, Sara Agah Franti, as well as a stirring slam poetry performance from Zoey Pricelys Roy. Via our famous strolling dinner, guests will experience a variety of tantalizing food stations and also have the opportunity to do some purpose-driven shopping at the silent auction, which will be filled to the brim with bling, beauty, and other coveted items. This fun and fabulous evening is a highlight on the Saskatoon event scene as we come together to create meaningful change and new opportunities for women in our community!
