What We Do
Business and Professional Women of Saskatoon (BPW Saskatoon) is a community of women who support greater equality for all people through education, leadership, and advocacy.
Leadership: encouraging mentorship for and by women, and committee and board participation of its members
Education: developing the professional and leadership potential of women
Advocacy: promoting equal opportunities for all people.
BPW Saskatoon was formed in 1930. We are a member of BPW Saskatchewan, BPW Canada and BPW International. All four organizations work to develop professional and leadership potential for women at all levels. Through its memberships in BPW Canada and BPW International, BPW Saskatoon has influence on the lives of women around the globe through BPW’s advocacy work with the United Nations.
One of BPW Saskatoon’s biggest initiatives is the provision of educational bursaries to mature and indigenous women in the Saskatoon area. Since 2011, our organization has awarded over $39,000 in bursary funds to students pursuing post-secondary education.
We hold monthly meetings with guest speakers who explore relevant topics that are of local and global importance to women. Our annual event Accessory to a Change, raises funds for our educational bursaries. In the fall, we host the ATHENA® Awards Luncheon, recognizing accomplishments of female leaders from the Saskatoon area, and supporting the ATHENA Leadership Model®.
“This is a group of inspirational and motivated women who work (and play) with common goals for women in the world and who use our privileged position in the Canada to help give voice to issues and disadvantages for those who have no voice. If you are looking for something that has depth and provides leadership and mentorship … Look for a group here or wherever you live!”
