4 Ways to be an Accessory to a Change in the Lives of Women!
BPW Saskatoon is very pleased to once again present Accessory to a Change and early bird tickets are now on sale! In our inaugural year, we raised over $11,000 in support of our bursary program for mature and Aboriginal women in Saskatoon and beyond. In order to extend our impact and support even more women, the aim of our second annual sparkly soirée is to raise $22,500.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Education is one of the most critical areas of empowerment for women and a vital means to ensuring that we have more choices over the kinds of lives we wish to lead. However, many women face significant financial barriers or difficult circumstances that inhibit them from pursuing the training and learning opportunities they wish to experience.
It is for this reason that Business and Professional Women of Saskatoon launched a bursary program dedicated to addressing the unique challenges that women often face in pursuing post-secondary education. For more than 60 years, we have been providing financial support to the women in our community in order to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. These bursaries have a tremendous effect in the lives of the women who receive them and we hope you’ll join us in being the change we all wish to see in the world!
HERE ARE FOUR WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
1. Help us Spread the Word
“I raise up my voice not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard…we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.”
Malala Yousafzai
This fun, fabulous, and fashion-filled evening promises to be a highlight on the Saskatoon event scene this spring, but more importantly, we are coming together to create meaningful change and new opportunities for women in our community. Your help in raising the profile and awareness around this important initiative would be so greatly appreciated. Here’s a few ways you might help in a meaningful way:
* Share this blog post across your social media platforms
* Put up a poster in your place of business (contact fundraising@bpwsaskatoon.com to get one!)
* Invite your friends and colleagues via the Facebook event here: bpwsk.ca/atcfb17
2. Join Us for the Event!
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
Dr. Maya Angelou
This will indeed be a stylish evening with the aim of helping women in our community thrive! Early bird tickets are now on sale and when you purchase the Spring Collection, you will receive 8 tickets for the price of 7! The festivities will take place at the Sheraton Hotel on Thursday, April 6, 2017, with cocktails beginning at 5:30 pm. There will be a variety of tantalizing food stations, a catwalk showcasing Spring’s hottest trends, a fancy photo booth, and a silent auction filled to the brim with bling, beauty, and other coveted items.
3. Become a Partner
“Alone we can so little. Together we can do so much.”
Helen Keller
Community partners are essential to the success of this event and we have a variety of different ways that individuals and businesses can participate! To learn more about these opportunities, please visit: PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Hillberg & Berk have joined us again as our very special Sparkle Sponsor! We are also very happy to have TCU Wealth Management as our Gourmet Sponsor and Sky Financial as a Vogue Sponsor in 2017, and to welcome back Advance-Tek as a supporter again this year. Very special thanks go to Cruz FM, Rawlco, and the Saskatoon Media Group for their very generous and continued involvement.
4. Support the Silent Auction
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”Winston Churchill
We’re hoping to make the silent auction at Accessory to a Change a stunner this year! In keeping with the theme of the event, we’d love to feature beautiful jewelry, watches, and handbags. Of course, we will also very gratefully accept other fabulous items such as artwork, event tickets and gift certificates. In return for your generosity (or that of your business!), you will be recognized at the event, as well as on our website and in our BPW newsletter.
For more information, refer to our Request Letter; to donate in this special way, please reach out to any BPW member or send an email to fundraising@bpwsaskatoon.com.
