President’s Message: Thank you
As I opened my computer to type this month’s President message it dawned on my that this is my last one and to be honest I don’t know how to feel about that. I am having very mixed emotions.
The first is disbelief that two years has gone by so quickly, especially when I thought the first year felt painstakingly slow as I learned how to be a leader. It was a huge responsibility to step into the shoes of your president and my only hope is that I made you all proud.
The second is pride at all we accomplished over these past two years. We built on what all the previous boards have done before us but also made our own footprint. So much so that we are getting International notice from other BPW Clubs around the world.
The third is sadness because I honestly don’t want it to end. Which is why I know I will find other ways to continue to be involved with BPW, including provincially and nationally…..maybe one day internationally.
The fourth is gratefulness for the opportunity to be your President. It was challenging, fun, at times frustrating but overall something I will never forget. I have grown so much in the past two years and have gained valuable experience that I would not have received anywhere else. BPW Saskatoon truly did provide a safe and supportive community in which I could grow and thrive. I am incredibly grateful for the women I was able to work side by side with over these past two years. Each and every one left a mark on my soul and I know we will continue to be connected even though my term is done. Being President also gave me a chance to connect more closely with our members than before and I will forever be grateful.
Lastly is joy. Despite how difficult being a leader can be at times I felt immense joy these past two years. I have said it before but I will say it again, BPW Saskatoon has given me the opportunity to truly be passionate about advocacy and that has filled my heart with so much joy I can’t thank you all enough.
I would like to say a special thank you to each and every board member and committee chair that I have had the opportunity to work with these past two years. You ladies are the reason why BPW Saskatoon is here and so successful. Your hard work and dedication is by far the best I have ever witnessed. I am truly blessed to have been by your side.
Finally I would like to say thank you to all our members. Two years ago you trusted to me lead this incredible organization and I never took that for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting and believing in me. I would also like to send a special thank you to your incoming President and my VP last year, Krista Martens. Working with you this last year was absolutely wonderful and I have first hand knowledge of all the great things you are going to bring to BPW Saskatoon over the next two years. Get ready ladies, I am so excited about what’s to come.
Until next time friends,
President, BPW Saskatoon
National Chair – VAW, BPW Canada
